Located in the north east of the Vaalor Empire, the Strekade Nests are known for their relentless seaward winds. This is exactly why Gart Carlon chose the area for setting up a mill many years ago. He came here with his family, making a living by grinding grain for the neighboring settlements. The mill soon started bringing a good profit and Carlon's family was set for life.
Gart had no worries about the strekades that lived nearby: though these flying creatures possessed a lethal sting, they usually attacked only when provoked. As long as no one approaches the nests of the beasts, living next to them isn't a problem.
It is still unknown how and why it happened, but returning from a fair one day, Gart found his family slaughtered, and his mill buried under strekade hives. That very day, the miller swore to destroy the wretched insects wherever he found them. But even an experienced warrior wouldn't dare to face more than a pair of strekades at a time, so at this point, Carlon has no idea how to approach the Strekade Nests that deprived him of his home and his life.
