This port on the western coast of Tartu was built for war, not trade. When the fleet of the Empire of Vaalor expanded greatly and became a real threat to Sadar's seaboard settlements, the Emperor of the Scarlet Empire spared no expense to order ships of war from the Dedaires. Sadar needed vessels able to stop any naval threat and protect citizens of the Empire from hostile armadas.
Dedaires created another masterpiece. The ships they built were called leviathans as they resembled sea monsters more than they resembled ships. Protected by armor plates made from steel, relying on engines instead of fragile sails and armed with long-range cannons of Dedaire make, these dreadful vessels have been dubbed "sea devils" by common folk.
In their first battle against Vaalorian invaders, the sea devils proved their worth many times over. Admiral of Storms Mardian Gal-Gar managed to sink one of the leviathans only at the cost of two thirds of his fleet. Ever since then, the thought of another demonstration of their naval supremacy never crossed the minds of Vaalorian admirals.
Now, in the times of peace, this port is mostly used by coast guard and merchants. Foreign ships come here, bringing valuable fabric, spices and healing potions and leave, loaded to the brim with grain, ore and cattle. Life goes on around the leviathan that is docked in the port and only old sailors seem to see in the eye painted on the ship's hull longing for days long past when epic battles were fought in tumultuous waters.
