Can their be single rewards for damage based on your own damage rather than only group?

I got the highest single player damage and get nothing but shards. Bunch of bull.

One thing that I think would be a good change would be making the first day of the shaab event is to make it so that we can continue getting the essences even after completing the quest. As it is usually the everyone buff for the crystals happens but I can only remember the money buff happening once.
