I LOVE the idea!
Potential extra - clan wars usually last 3 hours so 10g (or some fixed number) awarded to the clan for every hour that they can hold the idol.
And then a bonus 20g (or some fixed number) if you can hold the idol for the entire 3 hours.
Talk about giving clans an incentive to declare war/actually attempt to fight. I'm in!

I think that the clan war should be a bit more like DOT (Duel of Truth) , ie
1) As Marcus suggested no damage to armour I agree 2) 70% of Valour for losing side in clan standard battle 3) Plus 70% of heroism and 70% Hero of Empire rating again in clan standard battles
Also like Sea Battles
4) Allow bonecrushing so people can get the rep but don't inflict the curses on the opposition.
I know this last one mean's that there wouldn't be a take up of the immunity spell but the idea is to get more people active in wars, thus:
a) Creating more rep for both clans b) Means that even if a clan knows they are going to lose it still worth actually fighting c) More rep, valour, herosim does mean more chances to spend money in the game which I would think the programmers would like.(Money that would have been spent on immunity spell can be use to fight battles for more rep to both clans)
Lastly and also an incentive to encourage clan wars, and characters participating in clans is :
i) Losing clan can get bonuses if they either mine enough crystals or participate in enough clan standard battles bonus could be; only half of payment is made to the winning side, (Their members do get all that extra rep) or relics/ or special weapons(with time limit) to help with future battles (for level 2+ clans with clan chests)
