Clan Vault.

Overview: A simple bank type vault for the clan to use to gather money, to use to pay taxes.

How it works: The clan page would have tab titled Vault. On this tab would be the current balance of the clan vault. An option button to donate to the clan, and a history, (say last 50 events), of who has donated and how much, also any taxes that the clan pays out. This page should be viewable by members only. At this time, I am not suggesting the ability to give any funds from the clan vault to any member of the clan.

Pros: With the recent addition of clan taxes, this will allow the clans the ability to easily track any donations towards the taxes. It will also allow the members to see who is pulling there weight and who is not. This will also allow the clan leader to keep their funds separated from clan funds, so there is no accidental use (or outright fraud).

Cons: The possible loss of all funds in the clan vault if the taxes are not met. Also if a member leaves they may not get their funds back. This may already be in the works.

For the record. This suggestion/thread is in no way meant to discuss the actual taxes, either for or against. If you wish to discuss that please do not post here, take it elsewhere.

great idea Truck!!!
Excellent idea - and something like this has to be implemented, or remove all rules about giving gold to another player (as that is the only current way to contribute to the proposed clan tax).
I totally agree that we need something like this. It is too much to ask of a leader to keep track of the clan tax. I think that it would be great if this could show the tax divided by the number of members next to each member so that when they donate they know how much their share is and after donating (each time or whatever) it showed how much they have left to donate or how much over.

Anyway, I'm all for this so I hope it is done soon.
I agree completely with this option. It would be easier to stock up the tax money instead of going to trade and specifying it. The leader is then liberated from the dubious duty of getting all the money, keeping it and then paying the monthly tax. Naturally, the Vault would need a lock feature so that only the clan leader and maybe 1 or 2 more players can acces it to take out the money.

Good idea Sir Truckster!

I spoke with Hideki about this issue this morning. The answer for this is to use a trade but to put a condition in stating it is for clan taxes. This would be legal but will be majorly time consuming, plus it will cause the admin lots of work overlooking all the trades required from clan members to the leader. I figure 20 trades a week for our clan.

This would a nice addition as well.

Thank you, though if it is only used for tax money, I see no need to even have the ability to distribute from it.
within the vault it would be very nice to have the option to pay tax early or have it automaticly withdrawn on the due date. And no ability to remove funds, which like Truck said would alleviate fraud. Another thing it would cure is if a Chief quits the game and does not pass leadership, the clan could continue to function.
Bumping, now that clan taxes are due.
After having paid our first months clan tax, I am here to bump this idea again.

I paid the clan tax but was almost four gold short from my members, which came out of my pocket. I am now hoping to collect from members who have not paid into the tax. Some of my members will be kicked for non payment, and some have decided to step down.

I am now running around tracking members to see who has paid and who has not.

Maybe the level 2 clan hall will have a vault that we can use. As we are several weeks away from knowing this, can anyone say it does or does not?

If it does not then I hope we can add it.

If it does then this could be effectively locked.
"In the Hall clan members will be able to use the common Clan Chest and the Altar, that is providing reinforcing spells. "
From this I get the impression the chest will be somewhere to store items that can be accessed by all clan members, perhaps it will also have a space for gold. If not, we keep pushing the idea I guess :P
JimmyJammClan Level 2 -- what's the cost?
Since the announcement of level 2 clan availability all the clan members have been pouring time and money into attaining a level 2 clan. As my own clan has not yet reached the requirements, but are very close, i decided to hit up a couple friends about the benefits of a level 2 clan. Here's what i found out:

When you clan reaches level 2 you have access to a Clan Hall, a clan chest, a table which increases membership by 10, a clan shop where spells can be purchased that will increase valor, experience, professions production and professions item yield.

Clan Hall is free and serves as a storage location for everything as well as a hidey hole for players in case of a war.
Table which increases membership by 10 costs 50 reals.
The chest which allows for clan item storage is 100 gold.
The Altar which is where you can get the spells to increase profession productivity and valor/experience is 25 gold.
The Spells which buff profession productivity and valor/experience are 50 gold per spell to unlock after you have purchased the altar. The are 3 spells available.

so if i do simple math that's 275 gold and 50 reals to achieve maximum benefit for a level 2 clan. I know every clan will not be able to afford doing all of these and they are not mandatory but ...."

If I have missed anything, please let me know as I am getting this information second hand.

Ok, I edited some of Jimmy's post out as it does not have bearing here.

However, the costs seem relevant so I wanted them in here. I am not addressing the costs of these items, just a realistic way of obtaining them so we can get these items. I am smart enough to know that if there is a "level 2" then there will be a "level 3", "level 4" and so on. I also realize these costs will go up as the clan progresses. Again, I am not here to discuss those costs other than to acknowledge that they will be there. If you want to discuss the costs please find Jimmy's Post in the Tavern section. (Clan Level 2 -- what's the cost?)

Most players can not afford to whip out there credit card and just plonk over the 25-100 gold at a time to buy these items, a sensible way of being able to collect the money for them is a good idea.

IrishNote: The opinion below represents my personal view, not that of the game or it's staff.
If you do not agree for some to contribute, and a lot of others to not do so, then kick the ones who don't contribute from the clan. All members should pull their weight.
(above post edited to remove things not relevant to this topic).

Irish, I would love to do this, but again, trying to keep tabs on these kinds of contributions, will be daunting to say the least. A clan vault would very nicely handle this problem and again will limit the number of trades that will be reviewed by admin.

it is said that the clan chest, which can be purchased at clan level 2, has the ability to hold gold to be used for clan purposes, such as monthly tax and upgrades. We have gathered almost enough contributions to purchase chest. At that time I will update post with my findings. Still kind of curious how the monthly clan tax is "balancing the economy" when all the things that are available to clan members have to first be purchased at a very high cost. And yes i know this is not truly the right forum to be asking that, just hoping for an answer.
