underneath your character icon in top left of screen there is a + sign. click it and a window pops up

Klaatu Barada Nikto Live life, it's the only one you'll get. (I live on a sailboat! :P)

they are called buffs, and you can get food, balms etc from the yellow plus sign on green square background on top left corner of game screen

I choose to be happy everyday.
