Recruit gear: What all beginners have. Bought in shop for gold. Very crappy.

Gladiator gear (known by players as glad gear): Gear crafted in the blacksmith profession from collected substances. Unlocked at lv 6. Better, but only for newbs.

Warrior Gear: Better than Glad gear, but still bad. Unlocked at lv 6, and new piece is unlocked every 3 levels, up to level 30. Try to have better gear than this.

Barbarian's Gear (berserkers), Gear of Golden Eagle (witchers), Guardian's gear (paladins), collectively referred to as "Class Gear": For players lv 6-30, this is the standard gear. Strive to get this. You can get this through drops, Skrag Caves, or the Auction House. Players will sell this at normally 8-15 gold pieces. CAN be upgraded with marks.

Merciless Crusher Gear (berserk), Dark Hunter Gear (witcher), Imperial Defender Gear (paladin), collectively referred to as "blue gear": This is awesome gear for levels 6-30! Most heavy cash players will make these items. Using relics collected in Skrag Caves and some reals (which you need to pay $$ to get), you can make this in blacksmith profession. VERY FEW non-cash players will possess blue gear. Players will sell blue gear for about 55 gold on the auction house, so it's ok to not have this. It helps a lot though, and a clan might rent it out to you.

Predator Gear (witcher), Storm Trooper Gear (berserk), and Triumphant Gear (paladin), referred to either as green gear for 32-50 or by their individual names: This is the lowest level of gear for lv 32-50. Not god to have it, but you can function normally with it. 2-4 gold on AH (auction house)

Indomitable Conqueror (berserk), Hiding Adder (witcher), and Crushing Thunder (paladin), collectively referred to as zikkar gear: This is the best gear for players who can't afford blue or purple valor gear (I will explain this next). It's not great, but it works and is better than green gear for 32-50. (Of course, this is 32-50 as well.) Costs 20-30 gold on ah.

Master of fates (berserk), Twilight Avenger (witcher), and Tamer of Storms (paladin), collectively referred to as blue valor gear: You need high valor ranks to unlock this. Can be bought for a decent amount of gold in shop once you have the valor rank required. It's good, but not the best. Top players will have...

Ruler of Fates (berserk), Twilight Ruler (witcher), and Lord of Storms, collectively referred to as Purple Valor Gear (or purple gear): Ah, yes!! The pinnacle of achievement! This gear costs a LOT of reals (and bought in shop), and is very powerful!! Purple Gear is the best, and will take you a long way. All the best players have this. Very hard to get without cashing, but people have done it (Shotton ) This gear requires the same valor ranks to unlock as the blue valor gear. It's your choice whether to go for all blue, all purple, or a mix. But, keep in mind, Purple is the best and it costs reals!


Keep in mind that Blue and purple valor gear is non-transferrable, so you can't trade it.

TO summarize:

Recruit gear: horrible, needs gold.
Glad Gear: weak, needs gold/substances.
Warrior gear: bad, needs gold.
Class gear: Good, needs gold.
Blue Gear: Excellent, needs lots of gold or reals.
Green gear, 32-50: Bad. Needs little gold.
Zikkar Gear: Ok, needs gold.
Blue Valor gear: Good, needs lots of gold (30-50 about)
Purple Gear: EPIC. Needs lots of reals.
