it is allowed to set things over the 30% but not below the 30% in ah. Or is both ok to do because it is ah. I don't understand the trade rules. can someone please explain?

In short - no. Price should not exceed both + and - 30% of average price item is going for.

ok so whats up with the sparks of inception?

Or more to the point what is the average price, time of day, quest requirements, new people levelling into brackets causes constant flux, along with some items hardly ever being in AH so how would anyone know what to sell them as as no reference point in any case. Only way to provide a definitive average is for the game to do so on a rolling basis of the 30 days previous. Either that or bin the daft rule and say things can't be sold outside of +- 30% of the hover price. Would make things really simple.
And don't forget the game can change the rules anytime they want as with the helm of spear striker crafting increase from 5g to 15g now. Should the game be shackled for above a 30% increase?

This is one of the rules I don't pay too much attention to. I just sell at reasonable prices and have been OK. I'm sure I have items outside this range, but I think the admin will be understanding and are worried more about extreme cases or repeat offenders.
IMHO, Just do what seems *right* and you should be OK.
But I am no admin and can't speak for everyone.

doesn´t it say 30% over the the max and 30% under then min price u find in ah for selliong in ah or did i missread that ?

Clara Korn,
It would be easier and more convenient if you just use it on middle range price of item (f.e there is a random item going for 5 6 7 gold on auction house) if you use 6 gold for +-30% rule you are sure to never be in trouble, but even if you'd use 5 or 7 you'll be fine.
We understand that prices are not always still and some items are more rare and appear rarely on auction house so as long as you treat them fairly you should not get into any trouble.

welll the ONLY exception to the 30% rule is those items you can buy in shop. example thre other day I accidently bought 50 blue life pots for about 2s each when they are sold for 75c in shop.... I felt like an idiot! of course I was stressed from dusting my IC ax as well. stupid event weapons.

Zalex Jr,
If it's just a one time thing you have nothing to worry about in such cases. If you're worried you can always let us know about such purchases in Guardians forums. But yes, for items sold in shop that should be used as average price for 30% rule.
