It was most likely for the rep that the attacker got for using the sphere. There are other reasons, such as you may have irked someone and they wanted revenge, or You may have jumped into someone's fight, many times they will bc and not bother to tell you to stay out of fights, or tell you and then bc you to make sure the point got across. In these cases, imho, bcing without saying why is useless because the person won't see a connection and will still jump into other people's fights
