Fire Chain Effects

I currently have Fire Chain II learned as a spell. In the description it says:

Deals 4-6 damage with fire magic and an addition 4-6 damage over 8 rounds. Target deals 30% less damage with Poisonous Spells and 39 less damage with Striking Spells.

For the reduction in damage from the target, does this apply to only the next round, or throughout the next 8 rounds?

What exactly is considered a striking spell? How does it differentiate between a poisonous spell or (is it a)regular attack?

Eterna1,

As long as fire chain effect is active, target will have the damage reduction applied.

Striking spells are spells that consume mana and require a whole turn to execute. Like fireball, chaos whip, they do instant damage. Poisonous spells (or DOT spells, standing for damage over time) do...you guessed it...DAMAGE OVER TIME! They can be used whenever (but not if you're dead). THey usually have an effect on the opponent (with the exception of earth DOT, which kinda sucks lol). They can, unlike striking spells, be used on an opponent not fighting you at the moment. If you use DOT spell, you can still attack on the same turn, and you can use DOT spell when it's not your turn.
