I read it, but as you say it is a noob view, and quite honestly I don't think you're anywhere near qualified to write a review about a game you've only reached level 7 on. Perhaps when writing reviews for websites, those websites should have people play a little longer.

You don't need to reach a high level to be good. You can be good in your level bracket with the right gear also.

Again, the point of the article is not to play the game for several months and write a "review." We do not do "reviews" on Massively, only first impressions or class previews, etc. We have columns dedicated to specific titles to cover more in-depth coverage. Rise and Shiny has, for over 2 years now, been looking at games in the same way: I play them over a week, for roughly 10-12 hours, and write about the newbie experience.

Understand that the newbie experience is exactly what every player will go through. That means if it is not a good one, they will not play anymore. In many ways, the newbie experience is more important than any other; it's the first one.

It would be different if I wrote the column while calling it a "review" or pretending that it represents the entirety of the game...I do not do that. The readers have known the column and it is explained in the column itself why I play it, how much, and how the experience could be different at higher levels.

Whether I can be good in my bracket with the right equipment or not is not important, after all the key word is "newbie." I have no way of knowing what a veteran player would know....that's sort of the point. lol

well looking back at it you gave a good impression of how a noob would see it. I joined cause I knew it would be like that. I'm good at this style of game and all the things involved to be good. it is a great way to pass my free time which I have way to much of some days lol. I don't feel it's a game made for those who want to be powerful and have all the cool stuff quickly more you have to really earn that stuff makes it far more rewarding to know not every noob has the same stuff as you.

Yeh I enjoyed the pace of it as well. I'll probably have to just come back to it later (I have to cover other games) but it's fun to fire up and gane a level or do some quests.
