No one is making you do the professions , there are ways to earn money with them if you cant find them that's your problem. Also it's players who sell the items and players who 'dictate' the prices they buy profession stuff for. Also there is a chance for collection items to drop and they sell quite nicely.

Lol, besides the fact this post is hilarious.... anyone who does professions properly makes a profit. Either your maths is wrong somewhere, or you're just not doing it right.

I fish myself, but seeing as how you want to use strawberries as an example I'll go with that.

For strawberries you can put down 21 lots of seeds at a time, at a cost of 1s 24 per seed is 26s 4c.
You then water them 1 hour later.
(Fertilizer is worth it but only if you're going to do it for the whole time it's fertilized, so we'll just ignore fertilizer for now.)

So, 2 hours after planting, an hour after watering in come strawberries. 20 per lot. 20 x 21 = 420 strawberries.
The auction price can be anything from 20-40c per strawberry, we'll just take the low end of that 20c a piece for the purpose of this.

420 x 20c = 84s.
Money spent - 26.4
Money made - 84
Total profit for that 2 hours - 57s 6c (and that's going by the low end, they can sell for almost double)

Anything else you'd like to complain about???

Professions- a joke! I've been told you can make 2G aday planting strawberrys. I was losing money! Have you considered what it cost to buy the seeds & the fertilzer?- you LOSE!
Hunting is worse! just to bait 7 traps cost 7s 01c, after you fight (hope you don't lose) & collect fom traps you gain1s 83c for a grand total of 5s 18c in the hole! Not to mention the cost of the traps & upkeep of your skinning knife.
Anybody want what little money I get - I'd rather give it away! it's getting stolen anyway!

I'm guessing he's scrapping these items by selling them back to the game, and failing to put them into the AH as raw materials or crafting them into usable products and then putting them into the AH.
