How exactly does the loots of D.o.T. work?

I was in top 5 dmg dealers of the losing team and did not get an item I did 3727 dmg, and someone who did 1729 and other at 1748 get the items??

I was not quite in the top 5 places, I missed that by a narrow margin, but I noticed folks who did much less damage than I did get loot. This was about a week ago. Exactly what were the criteria for prizes from DoT?

I thought prize is only for winning team. I was top damage count on losing team and got nothing except damaged equipment.

Losing team Receives items aswell, and as previously mentioned by Scarrlett people with 1/4 the damage i dealt won items. This is why I would like to know how the loots from D.o.T. work.
