There are several ways to get essences: Buying them on Auction House , using Dragon Eye's from shop and then using spells on monsters (f.e if you use Eye of Air Dragon , your air spells mana cost is doubled for duration and you get essences for using air spells on monsters). If you cant use specific spells there is an option to either change class or you can try to trade essences you have for the essences you need.
