Sea Battle Petition - Lessons Learned
Since the SB petition to remove factions began, I've been making an extra effort to take note of why SB does or doesn't run. Here's what I've seen.
First, HUGE THANK YOU!!!!! to all the Sadars that keep joining, even though Vaalors are on a winning streak. We've been waiting a long long time for something like the last couple weeks to happen, and I truly appreciate all the players that join, no matter what might happen. To the players, from both factions, that signed the petition but still don't queue, what are you waiting for??? I have 8/11 wins this last couple weeks, where have you been?
Second, I think admin should change it so we Can queue from the islands. How many over 50s have had invites, wanted to go, and decided not too, because they would have to rescue a ship later? Please let us queue for SB from the islands.
Third, It is extremely rare to get 18 in queue. Perhaps it is different during the day (Central Time), but at night, we are lucky to see 10-15 in queue. So, reading the petition the way it is now, would be only be beneficial for the once a month heroism event (in the eyes of admin).
My Request - Queue for SB more often, all of you! Maybe if we actually got 18 in queue, and constantly showed admin that a mixed would launch, then they would think about changing it back. I, personally, would not want to do all the work of changing the programming for a once a month event.

I totally agree on your second point, it is very annoying.
18 in queue is rare indeed, but a lot of the vaalor side would join if SB was mixed. So then the total of 18people would be easier, although the past week I was in queue for SB a lot and it often had 4vaalors or even 5 and then just one sadar . So yes, tide is changing
As for me, I have been queueing this week but not as actively as I soon will because I will get past this vortex nephquest at the end of the week, hopefully. As from then I will be working on the next quest which needs some Sb-things. Plus I also have to work on spells and it is just true that SB is very fun on top of that (although I have been very negative about SB for a long time
I think more folks would go SB if we would all agree to cap up the buffs for it. If the costs are lower then a defeat would be much more easier to accept, and would benefit everyone.
If we would do it just balm and food im sure more people would join.
On the other hand big players on the server always asked that SB is an ALL-IN battleground. Because as in poker you don't all-in every hour every day, we all have to expect SB to run much more rarely than other BG's.
Yes, I have the same problem.
As much as I would love to go low-buffs, cheap, there's no way to enforce the rules (from my point of view), except if one of my clan mates does go in all-buffed after players make a new rule, my whole clan gets bc'd for it. The Only rule I have in SB is to only bane what you can heal (this is for all situations, not just SB, I don't use what I can't heal in battlegrounds). And even though I healed, I now have sadars using big banes and not healing (which kills the queue, d'uh), and I even lost a friend off my list for using a grey bane. So, No Rules is easier.
Here's how I believe you can make up the cost of SB: Sell Dark Rum (seen it for 10s-1g on AH). I get 2-5 rum per SB. Sell essences (usually listed for 50s-1.5g on AH), I get 2 per battle. So, without a lot of effort, I can pay for my buffs for next time, with what I make. Now, some will argue about the mount cost - but most brackets still use mount for all battlegrounds, therefore just the guaranteed valor, possible heroism, possible corsair rep, and the No Gear Damage make up for it.

Thank you for making that petition, the free advertising made the recruiting much easier and the range of people joining lately shows it's getting more popular. I do wish mixed would run, but I'm just not confident that we would get 18 in queue more often that way.
*goes back to begging the boss to upgrade the work computers so I can join during the day*
However for those who have gotten some going, great job. Hope we can continue being fair for all maybe one day I can catch one
But for those who got one to go, and even got the wins gratz. I hope we can keep up with working together.
Update 23/08/2015 - Got two SB wins last night so neph quest finally done but then after 22:00 SBs seemed to die again though I believe they picked up at the usual time i.e. 04:00 and after but now after that brief flurry they are dead again. So DE please, please listen to the community about how SBs and Day of Grand Heroism are broken on Nova server.
