We are already working to fix your friend issue with not being able to log-in. I'd like to apologize for inconvenience caused.
There seems to be a temporary fix that has worked for several players, your friend might want to try this until issue is fixed.
You are able to log on to the game by clicking "play" and then click "forgot?" enter your email they'll send u a password restore email (if its not in your inbox check your spam) click the link that's in the email and then set your password as your Facebook password...then you can enter in the game by typing your email and new password instead of clicking the Facebook log-in.

Facebook log-in issues are now fixed. Your friend should be able to log-in with his Facebook account now.
