Transportation payment.
You're kidding me right? That's just way too much for any one person to pay. Especially when they might not be able to pay for the cost by actual cost just to jump from one place to another.
You probably just have too much stuff in your back pack. Use, Sell, or Trade items (read rules first!) to clear up your pack so you can move at no cost. The teleport crystal is one of the best-prices, most useful, items in the game.

It's a cost of 1 silver per step with a crystal but you still have the option of just walking instead of teleporting.

Did you check (and fix) your pack space? Once you have enough room in your inventory you can move for free.
Nothing forcing you to buy the teleport crystal to play, but it is very useful later on.
