Not entirely true. let's say you spend 3s on a bucket of ash and use it on a plot that will yield, say 20 wheat when watered. You will end up with +6 wheat each time basically throughout the waking day (16 hours). As long as you make that six enough it is worth money, For the current wheat prices (about 17s per hundred), for each six pieces of wheat you make about 1s. So technically, as long as you go on 3 times to plant and then water, or about five times to plant without watering, you'll at least make a few copper. A small sum, but it can go a long way. And if you're going to be on more, that's all the better.
