More Medallions of Permanence!

A secret council convened recently to discuss an important matter. Present were Crown-Legate Crimm, Storm-Brigadier Rand, Allur Rag-Veta, Gaor Trad, Legate Val-Tar and Colosseum's Master Davian. These esteemed seasoned warriors decided to change the rules for accessing the Trial of Combat. From here on out, any warrior who wishes to fight Adan's best will first have to prove their valor and battle mastery in the Battlegrounds.

When fighting in the Arena of Honor, Seven Bridges of Shadan or Sea Battle and proving your worth as a warrior, you will receive the Trail of Combat Quest that pits you against Crimm or Rand. Winning it will earn you the Medallion of Permanence I and the next Quest, upon completing which you will be able to upgrade the Medallion to the next level.

Medallions' stats were also changed. Experience reduction now depends on the level of the Medallion:

Medallion of Permanence I — reduces Experience gain by 50%
Medallion of Permanence IIreduces Experience gain by 75%
Medallion of Permanence IIIcompletely stops Experience gain

Medallion's effect duration is 90 minutes, their lifetime - 6 hours.

Medallions can be upgraded to a higher level. To do so, prior to battling the veterans, take part in the Arena of Honor, Seven Bridges of Shadan or Sea Battles and earn the required amount of Battle Points.

After completing the Quest for level 3 reward, you will be offered to choose between two items: the Medallion of Permanence III or the Medallion of Courage III, that increases Valor earned by 20% and Heroism earned by 15% for 6 hours.

The cooldown between Trial of Combat Quests remains unchanged.

i liked the old way far better. I don't do hop, but I did use the medallion I to finish quests. To the level 70's that feel this is a great change... what about those of us that really want a well rounded character to make playing fun for you also? It seems to me all you want is to kill everyone that are far weaker than you. To Storm, I say, if you all love exp so much, that is your choice. Rush up to the top. I will be slowly working my way up, while building reputations and professions to balance my character. I love Tournament of Honor (seems on this server, it is not liked). I would love to do an Invincible Warrior (never have since it seems impossible to have 20 people in queue). DE, also, thank you for the "fix" in sea battles were one person can get 45K+ of experience, that makes it all worth while. To those at the top, it seems you would want people that are lower to get a chance to get caught up. I know I love good fights. There are some that say there are no fair fights. I say, grab a boat, pm me, we each take one sydian and no summons or toys. Let's see who wins :) Win or lose, I like close fights. I find those so much better than a level 70 crushing a level 38. I am still trying to understand why mounts are not allowed in battle grounds here. seems there again, you are wanting to punish those of us that worked hard on our reps to get stronger. But I guess that is a discussion for another topic.

In ending, this change stinks. We need more people playing the game, not less. People need to be able to earn some money without exp and without being attacked. Let them earn the money. Let them get a bit stronger, then settle it in a battle where both sides have a chance.
People have slow played before medallion, why not just go back to that way and give this a chance before (as Leane so gracefuly put it) telling admin to suck a big one? You can get the 1 medallion with a few arena rounds, for cashing in the quests. It's still less exp than the now level 70s got at that level.
Please understand, I have a level 22 toon that I did plan to get to soldier before level 23, with the use of medallions. Now I have to change that. So, I'm not speaking solely from a level 70 perspective. I will deal with the level 22 getting exp and will still have a good time playing with her.

We should just all be happy that admin didn't cancel medallion due to "technical difficulties" and force everyone to level again. They are trying to get more people in the arena and get more people spending money on gear. No Surprise there. I've always said, the best time to get experience points is when you're also getting valor. Bring on Martial Valor, and Wars! ">

Couldn't have put it better myself - I very much second that.

Would be very interesting also to see your feedback for this Ihit - are we blowing off steam or is there a chance to reconsider?

The point Amherst made is perfectly clear - game needs to propose a solid method of catching up with rep and money without forcing the move to upper brackets.
1v1 wouldn't be a close fight Amherst since youre always on a boat of 6 v 1 and it ends close
ChloeAva_71The medallion was to help people get less Experience during HoP not to replace normal game place. And for some reason people are making it the only time they will play the game. Yet a few months back there was no such thing, and people played just fine. They are giving extra Valor and Heroism for people if they fight, and people are still fussing..... strange because they are the very people who fuss all the time there are no arenas ">

Many of you recall, there was no HoP, Medallions, and we didn't get all dot spells or a mission to do and hit 1k Glad rep in a few days when we walked in the door either.....So why the complaints from everyone?

And before anyone throws stones, my valor is not as high as some, but I did not sit at lvl 50 for a year doing arenas and farming ess.. I hit 50 and the lvl cap changed.

Well said and before we knock this down at least give it a chance to work.
And thanks for proving my point Amherst. While the majority of us would love to have cheap fun arenas someone like you will come along and buff to the extreme and mount and ruin it for everyone else because of some sort of superiority complex where you have to win a meaningless arena battle. The majority of us would rather save our money for something more important such as helping clan in bc fights (and I was in DF and joining losing battles repeatedly just to help before you all go throwing I'm in elitist line) seabattles, mine fights, dot and clan wars.(whenever those come back). In my opinion and I think most still share, AoH is a place to kick back relax and have some friendly competition win or lose.
I might have been a bit overexcited yesterday about recent changes, so ill try to lay down my thoughts in a more systematic manner.
1. New rules badly affect those of us who have been trying to use medallion for a) hop; b) quest completion
2. Hop was never meant to be a substitution for any other gaming fun, rather it was the source of stable gold generation for many people. The only remaining alternative is professions, but it will hardly be possible to earn as much. It will inevitably lead to less gold amount in the entire game and lower gold speed circulation, since we will have to spend more reals just to meet personal needs. If someone thinks that we will see more ppl doing hop now, please state your reasons. If someone knows better ways of earning gold…. don’t tell anyone:)))
3. Same goes to quest completion with medallion. Those of us who tried to limit exp gain working hard on well balanced characters, will be fighting battlegrounds even more seldom, trying to get ready as many quests and as many collections as possible in order to complete them when they finally get to get medallion, lets say, once a week.
4. If this update was meant to make us more active in pvps, the logic behind must be different. Just let ppl earn more (reputations, items etc.) during pvps, and less ppl will focus on hop. Bring back clan wars, refix sea battles, make vortex fire, id love to fight more!
5. If DE wanted to earn more money, this update will hardly help. Many ppl were earning gold to be able to fight pvps and prepare themselves for bigger events, where they might spend reals on upgrades and elite stuff. Now they have to spend rm just to make this game run. Many r going to have to login now and do nothing, just waiting in pvp lines, then get their medallions (fighting for at least one hour, if they r lucky) and then start making money to hardly cover the costs of the pvps they just fought. The gaming process becomes less flexible since there are very few pvps during daytime. And there is not enough time to complete pvps and do quests plus hop plus incidents in the evening. Im afraid we will see less people playing in the long run, that means less people will ever think about spending rm here.
6. In my opinion, the only ppl who gonna like this change are those who don’t care that much about reputations, quests and professions and just come here to fight a few pvps. And high lvls, of course, who got their best weapons and reps and don’t care about exp.
7. Im eager to see how the situation develops, but personally im seizing my main toon activities, will try to experiment with my alts though.
flywithme,
Vortex would fire if they lowered the entry requirement to 8 people I think... it would still work that way.
here I go again. we can not spend more money than you want to spend. in my case the type of payment is too high to buy real. change is 16 x 1. if you want to see more money down the offer in countries that are not favorable change like 3 x1 r or 4 x 1. You could receive something. something is better than nothing. I could spend money in the game. but again the change is not good rather. i want spend that money for personal consumption. if you want more people on the sands a solution could be put chests as a reward for having a significant number of battles or deaths. the change in the medals do not like. I am forced to play less. You can not make us play, we play because the game is good. but if you do not give us what we like just you do not get much more than what is being done.
Have had a friend inform me that he got Trials and Garuug at the same time. Being the little pally that he is, he was unable to complete garuug and still make it to the trial fight in time. Can we get the 20 min limit for trial fights back?
well I can see the + and - to both sides of this. on one side it promotes activity and player interaction on the other it henders those that are not pvp or even valor capped. basically taking away something that you gave them that promotes money earning without the worry of leveling too fast and get into a point where they are cannon fodder to cashers. (such as myself at this point!) if I have to fight 20-30 fights in order to get this medalion now I am better off to just do a protector quest hop and write off the other 110 minutes of hop as I do when I do not have a medalion/garugg bag and a ride to isles. (I still make money and I earn a minimal amount of exp for a max amount of gold)

In short I do not support this update for personal preferences but I understand that it is here for the game and not me. now if you can fix wars, sb faction in-balancing, IW, Vortex, potion lagging (taking 3 turns instead of 2 to be used for example) and the other likely 3 dozen common mentioned issues before changing something that kindsa worked and was liked that would be awsome!
Its not here for the game Zalex. Its here for the business. Maybe you get lucky and get Medallion I during a 7b. Arena doesn't run so those that want the Medallion II and Medallion III pay the 6 reals for the upgrades (instant money for DE). Those who no longer do the medallion because its just a pain to get now and arena does not run for days level up faster and pay for gear upgrades (money for DE) and some even buy collection pieces for reps to stay caught up (money for DE). Those who do do the arena are met with those who can not resist the urge to buff to the max every time they enter the arena (Money for DE) and I could list those people who cant do the arena without buffs in my bracket but you know who you are (best part they always complain if you do more damage than them that they are too poor to afford your buffs [a balm and food??? learn2play not pay]). Anyways coming back from my rant, Zalex its all about the quick buck they can make from those who will pay despite customer satisfaction or customer retention (and they wonder why servers die).
I'm grateful for the time the Halo of Permanence was available under it's original introduction. With it, I was able to work on reps and gear upgrades allowing me to get closer to where I want to be. I hope to be able to get some more use from it in the current format, but the days of me doing HoP daily, using red bag on islands and on the off days using it for pvp or other non-island combats are gone under this format.
Advice to the 70's, make maximum use of the level cap before it is raised again. Make money, do pvp's or whatever else you need to work on before the level cap is removed.
It was interesting needing to have 5-6 gold ready for me to prepare to do Hours of Prosperity to buy the crafted orbs, glyphs, potions, balms, etc... mostly from other players.
This change will greatly inhibit the progress of many players here as these posts are clearly stating.
I'm baffled by how the decisions to change popular game features are quickly implemented to make those changes much less appealing, while game fixes, like Clan Wars goes unresolved. I would better understand it if the Halo's gave an unfair advantage to lower levels as compared to the higher levels, but that's not the case, in my opinion it was a way to help the gamers of all levels progress in a competitive manner. It allowed lower levels to make it past level 31 without suddenly realizing they are going to be incredibly over-matched, then quit.
If this is supposed to be a reals-only game, then make it that, if not, then listen to what the players are asking for, after all it's a good idea to give the customer what they want if the goal is to retain them.
One more point I'd like to draw the attention of the esteemed devs to is the uncertainty the new rules introduce. If I knew that I need to make fixed ammount of damage during PvP to unlock toc, I could plan my time and fighting tactics more effectively. Now I'm faced with multiple challenges which highly depend on other players. If I was sure that I can make it within, lets say, two or three aoh or one toh, I would be more willing to fight. Right now I can't even tell if my next aoh will happen and, if it does, how many more id have to fight. Imagine that I have, lets say, two hours of free time and I'm trying to make plans. I'm pretty reluctant to spend money on cover plus buffs plus mount if I'm not sure I can use em at least a few times. And, again, from my experience one hour is hardly enough to get all three toc. I can't tell how much time, exp, money etc. it will take me to complete it. So my wish is that u make it more predictable for us if not going back to how it was before:)))
Oh even better you still get the ridiculous amount of experience from doing the stupid boss fights against always crit fireball pally.

Finally got it thanks to MV day :D
1.5hours to get it with arena going constantly and winning each battle :D and only 53k experience.... lol been better off doing hops for 1.5hrs... now I gotta do hops too when Im ready to get off :(
The 6 hours is not what it shows on me, it shows only 5
I got my first medallion today... and it was only due to the arena running for 2x valor otherwise it would have been impossible. It took more exp to get the medallion then I can save during its use. Not to mention it took hours. The whole quest has become pointless for me... My daily days of hops are over... less gold for me/less gold to spend in ah/less gold for others. I'm not going to be able to get my reps where I want them with my lvl... maybe ill just go find a new game.
Perhaps it should be changed to All PvP counts? Then we can be sure people will get to Duel of Truth for medallions. And of course, all the bone crushing that's been going on
can u tell me why do i need valor guys im already capped so why we just entering pvp battles to get exp .. and even if we accepted that where do we find participants for battlegrounds since no one want to join ..why guys u make it like a lucky dream to get the medalion ? that is the point most of us doesnt like .
Can you just charge me for the Medallion and skip the waste of time and experience
